The Employee Retention Credit, or ERC, is a federal program enacted by Congress under the CARES Act designed to provide financial relief to small businesses impacted by COVID-19.

If your business was affected in 2021, you may still be eligible to claim this valuable tax credit. The ERC allows businesses to receive up to $21,000 per W2 employee for the 2021 tax year only.

The deadline to file is April 15th, 2021. but waiting could put your claim at risk. The ERC program was created by President Donald Trump during his first term to help small businesses recover from the pandemic.

However, in September 2023, the IRS commissioner under the Biden administration placed a moratorium on ERC claims, pausing processing for nearly a year.

In early 2024, a congressional bill was proposed to end the ERC early on January 31, first 2024, but it never passed.

As a result, the program remains in place and business owners still have time to claim their refunds. Over the past several months, the IRS has gradually resumed issuing refunds and businesses are once again receiving payments.

With a new administration in office, the IRS Commissioner responsible for pausing ERC processing resigned on January 20th, 2025. President Donald Trump has since nominated former Senator Billy Long as the next IRS commissioner.

Long has strongly supported small businesses and has helped business owners secure ERC refunds in recent years. His leadership signals a pro-business approach, making the future of the ERC program stronger than ever.

To qualify, your business must meet one of the following criteria. A significant revenue decline in 2021 compared to 2019, or 2020, alternatively.

A full or partial suspension of operations due to government orders. Or, be a recovery startup business that began operations after February 15, 2020.

For instances, a business with 20 W2 employees could qualify for up to $420,000 while a business with 100 W2 employees could be eligible to receive up to $2 million.

dollars, and that’s just the base amount. An additional 15 to 21 percent in statutory accrued interest means your total refund could be even higher than $21,000 per employee.

And that interest will only continue to increase the longer it takes to receive your ERC refund. One of the nation’s top accounting firms, fully staffed with CPAs and tax lawyers, will be assisting you in filing your ERC claim, ensuring accuracy and compliance while maximizing your refund.

The April 15, 2025 deadline is fast approaching. With a new administration that’s showing unwavering support for small businesses, ERC claims are moving forward again.

Don’t leave money on the table. This is your chance to recover funds your business is entitled to. Take action today and claim the ERC before it’s too late.

The article below was published on one of our business blogs prior to theTrump/Biden election four years ago. Like many Americans, I went to bed at 3:0 in the morning on election night, knowing that Trump had made it, only to wake up and learn that miraculously Biden had won!

All any of us can do is live, learn an move forward, and that is what I have attempted to do the past 4 years. I 100% stopped watching the news, because in all reality my personality cannot handle main stream media pitching lie after lie.

However, the last 30 days or so, I have got sucked back into all the election rederic. I couldn’t watch the World Series without being bombarded by presidential election commercials. So I admit it I have been down the political rabbit hole the bast 30 days.

HERE IS THE BOTTOM LINE FOR ME.

The amount of disruption over the past four years has been hard for anyone to understand. The USA I grew up in has gone to hell in a handbasket in 4 years. I sincerely believe that if Harris is elected, the world as we have known it is over. The USA will become a Marxist country and there will be no going back! Look what has happened over the past four years, do you think we can take 4 more of rising prices and radical philosophies?

If you haven’t voted, please VOTE!

I don’t particularly like Donald Trump as a human being, but THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE! His track record as president of the United States, is the ssue!

In choosing a candidate you just have to write down the issues that mean the most to you personally and hopefully consider the longevity of this country. Make a list of whatever the issue are for you?

* Grocery Prices * 20 million illegal aliens entering the country and taking over cities * Donald Trumps Obnoxious Personality * High Gasoline Prices * Parents rights to parent their children * Abortion Rights or the Killing of Babies (depending on your view) For me it comes down to two words TRACK RECORD – personalities have nothing to do with it, it is all about TRACK RECORD in my opinion. If that makes sense then we just have to honestly answer this question.

Was the country and all the people who live here better off during Trump’s 4 years?

When you get personalities out of the equation, the choice is d! Honestly, can any level thinking person with common sense believe using our tax money for sex changes surgeries for inmates. is a good idea?  I mean really!   People have said to me, yeah but Trump is rude!  Are you really letting this fact disrupt your thinking and common sense? I could go on and on, but let me share the article that we featured before the last election.

You many have a challenge with Donald Trump the human being, but how can you have a problem with Donald Trump, President of the USA?

Is it possible he simply Loves America? Just becuase you may not, doesn’t mean he doesen’t! Just consider the possibility. Why else would he have taken on this challenge?

Honestly, it is hard for me to understand how this is even a debatable topic?

If anyone really pays attention, and really listens to what Donald Trump says, and why. Instead of letting others interpret what he is saying for them. How can they attempt to dispute the track record of this president?

“Only fools argue with facts” So that is why mainstream media, hollywood, and other special interest groups just come across as babbling idiots. What really bothers these people is the majority of Americans know their game, they aren’t fooling anyone, or swaying those that can THINK FOR THEMSELVES, LOOK AT THE FACTS, THE TRACK RECORD, AND MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS!

Today is election day in the United States.  For those of you have haven’t voted early or voted yet, I hope you will exercise your right to vote, it is THE MOST IMPORTANT RIGHT YOU HAVE as an American citizen.

I don’’t talk much about politics at all on this website. However I have talked about Trump off and on since 1997 when he put is name behind a network marketing company, “The Trump Network”.

I have never been found of Trump as a Human beings, but the last 4 years I can say he is one of the strongest leaders I have ever seen, possibly they strongest.

How people can attempt to debate the Obvious is beyond my level of understanding.

However I have learned over the years that common sense is no longer common. That many cannot see the obvious.   That most people follow the sheep (the crowd)  People see things not as they are …. But as they are.

So here is my only political advice.  It is the advice that I use in my life for every decision involving another person, or intentiy.

TRACK RECORD.

In the case of the presidential election it is beyond obvious.

However I also understand that most people don’t really consider track record.

Personality

Special Interest Groups

The Enviroment

Hollywood

The don’t go deep and look behind the curtain. or they simply dont care.

So what is the track record of the current administration?

Let’s just look at some of the accomplishents all while fighting impeachment from the day he took office. The democratic parties only goad for the past 4 years was to get rid of trump and stop all progress at all cost. Make up something to blame trump for, so we can regain power.

HERE ARE THE FACTS

* Consumer confidence & small business confidence is at an all time high.

* More than 7 million jobs created since election.

If families are not safe, and the economy is not strong, there is not chance to work on other issue.

Trump did all of this while fighting flagrant abuse and impeachment charges.

——-please explain to me why you have a problem with OUR president? Because he has misspoke a few times? Tell me when you find a perfect person, please….I’ll wait! I’ll tell you why, because the media has skewed him in such a negative light and unfairly report his accomplishments to undermined those achievements! Why? Because the media is complicit in every single thing this man is trying to undo! Start thinking for yourself!

Vote your conscious.   This will probably be the last time I speak on matter.

What is Musk doing?

Musk promised that he would give away $1 million a day, until the Nov. 5 election, for people signing his PAC’s petition supporting the First Amendment, which protects freedom of speech, and thSecond Amendment, with its right “to keep and bear arms.”

He is also awarding individuals $47.00 for each person they personally refer to the petition, which is a great benefit to all Americans, right before the holidays.

He awarded a check during an event Saturday in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to a man identified as John Dreher. A message left with a number listed for Dreher was not returned Sunday. Musk gave out another check Sunday.

What they don’t tell you about taking your business to the next level

At Calvert Marketing Group, we believe that the real purpose of a business is to give you, the owner, the life that you really want.

Because most people don’t want a life that is totally consumed by their business, this means developing a self-managing business that runs efficiently without the owner’s constant involvement. The challenge myself and many other like me with severe cases of Entreprenurial ADD have is we have multiple business going at the same time in various niches.

The steps to doing so are relatively simple and straightforward.

You need to implement systems, hire and train people or bring on incentivized sales teams to help you dupplicate yourself and embrace your role as a business owner and leader. Be clear, just because you are a business ownere does not mean you are a leader, and just because you may be a leader does not mean you should be a business owner.

Conceptually, these things are easy to understand.

Logistically, they are not that hard to implement. All the skills are learnable. Help is available.

Emotionally is where owners run into trouble.

The steps are simple. But change can be an emotional rollercoaster.

On the one hand, it’s easy to get excited about setting big goals, making plans, and working towards a business that will give you time and money freedom.

On the other, it can also feel scary to go outside your comfort zone and recruit sales reps or hire help before you’re 100% certain that the increased sales will follow or to delegate important tasks to your staff.

If you’re feeling this, you are probably somewhere on the transition curve.

The transition curve is a model of the psychological stages that individuals undergo when they embark on a learning journey or face new challenges.

As you can see from the diagram, there are several stages. Let’s look at them.

Uninformed Optimism

At this stage, you’re probably feeling enthusiastic, but you lack a full understanding of the task at hand.

You might think that the challenge will be easy because you haven’t yet encountered any complexities or difficulties.

Simply put, you don’t know what you don’t know.

A person in the uninformed optimism stage might think:

“Building systems and delegating tasks will be easy! I’ll have more free time in no time!”

Informed Pessimism

As you gain more knowledge about the task, you realize that it might be a little bit more complicated and harder than you originally thought.

Doubt and worry set in and you may feel a decrease in confidence.

The good news is that now you can see the gap between your current skill level and what is required.

A person in the informed pessimism stage might think:

“This is harder than I thought. Maybe I’m not cut out to grow or scale my business.”

Crisis of Meaning

This is the inflection point of the curve. The challenges might seem overwhelming and you may question whether you should continue.

Crisis of Meaning can be associated with feelings of despair and a loss of purpose.

Perhaps you hire a VA and they don’t seem to be working out because they don’t understand your instructions and they make mistakes.

A person in the crisis of meaning stage might think:

“Was all this effort to systematize and delegate even worth it? Maybe I was better off doing everything myself.”

At this point, things could go either way.

Seth Godin calls this place “The Dip.”

Crash and Burn

Crash and Burn is giving up.

You declare that growing a team and building a business isn’t for you.

Instead, you decide to stay at the same size or even shrink your business.

Some people even give up their businesses entirely, believing that they are not up to the task of creating success for themselves.

Informed Optimism

If you get the support you need and push through, you will find yourself in the final stage.

At this stage, you find a way to manage the challenges.

You develop new strategies, learn new skills, and renew your commitment to the task.

While you are now more aware of the difficulties, you are also better equipped and more realistic about what it takes to overcome them.

A person in Informed Optimism might think:

“Building a team and systematizing my business is challenging. But with the right support, strategies, and persistence, I can do it. I can see how it will lead to sustainable growth and free up my time in the long run.”

While you may not have completed your goal (yet) you have the mindset and motivation to stay the course.

You’ve made it through the hard part of the curve and now you’re headed up.

And through this experience, you’ve become a better business owner.

This is Dale Calvert, today is September 27th, 2024. I originally wrote the article below for a basketball related website we own, and I am getting ready to sell. I wanted to keep this article somewhere, so it landed here.

If you have a child or grandchild playing basketball, this may be a good read for them and system to follow.

START OF ORIGINAL ARTICLE

In this article I am going to share with you a simple system that will enable you to become the best free throw shooter on your basketball team.  This is a simple system that will work for you, but there is a catch it is simple to do, so it is easy not to do.

The reason I am writing this article is my granddaughter is starting to become a serious basketball  player.  Her name is Chapel Brown.  I have shared bits and pieces of this system with her since she has been playing, but never really explained why I am so passionate about the importance of free throw shooting.   So in a sense, I am writing this article for her, and publishing it here at BestbasketBallShoes.co in hopes that it will encourage, help and inspire other basketball players.

The truth is 95% of the people will find this article will breeze over it and not read it, not put the system into practice.  If you are one of the rare few that takes the information seriously, and actually puts it into practice what I share,  you will become known as the best free throw shooter on your team and maybe in the entire league you play in.

Yes! YOU can do it and success starts with YOUR DECISION to become the BEST Free throw shooter on your team.  Can you make a quality decision and promise to yourself?  If you can, let’s begin.

When I started playing school basketball years ago, I was not the tallest person on the team, I was not the fastest and I didn’t have a basketball hoop in my driveway where I could practice any time I wanted to.   However, I was smart, and I didn’t mind working and practicing hard at something I enjoyed.   So you must learn to love the game and enjoy the competition.  If you can’t learn to love what you are doing, then maybe you should do something else?

No matter your personality off the court, when you step on the court you MUST turn into a WARIOR.  I will probably write  an article just on this topic in the future, but for now, just understand how important the WARRIOR MENTALITY is.  You are not on the court to make friends, there is time for that after the game, for those few minutes while you are on the court your goal is to be a WARRIOR and DOMINATE.   I call this the X factor.  It didn’t come naturally for Koby, it is something he consciously, intentionally, developed, and you can to.  I din’t understand this in my early years of playing organized sports, but the qucker you accept this and make a conscious decision to bring out the inner warrior when you step on the court the quicker and further you will progress.

So I made the conscious decision that I was going to become the best free throw shooter on our team.  It was not something I announced to the world, it was just a private decision that I made, an agreement with the person staring me back in the mirror.  A promise to myself to dedicate myself and practice a little more on free throw shooting than most people were willing to practice.

“Successful people are willing to do, what normal people, aren’t” Dale Calvert

I made that decision when I was in the 5th grade, but you can make it at anytime along your basketball journey.  I don’t care if you are a senior in college, it is never too late to make the decision to become THE BEST free throw shooter on your team.   Too bad Shak didn’t make that decision at some point along his career.

There is just no exuse for a serious basketball player to be an average free throw shooter.

As I said earlier, I made that decision when I was in the 5th grade.   At that time our counties elementary basketball teams where made up of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.     We had 7 other elementary schools in our county and our season consisted of playing each team in our county twice, once in their gym and once in ours.  We may have had an exhibition game or two before the season actually started.  During the year we would maybe play a couple of games with schools in close by counties that bordered our county if both schools had an open date or something.

So we had a season that consisted of about 20 games with a tournament at the end of the year.

The 4th and 5th graders made up the B Team, they would play first on game night. Then the A team would play which was mostly 6th graders and few 5th graders would be invited to  dress out.

So my 5th grade year I was the starting point guard on the B team and was one of a few 5th graders that dressed out for the A team game as well.   At the beginning of the year I made the goal to have the best free throw shooting percentage on the entire team.

As a 4th grader I had ended up with the 11th best free throw percentage on the total team of 22 players.  Knowing I wasn’t going to start for the A team, I felt like setting the goal to be the best free throw shooter on the team was something that was possible for me, if I worked hard at it.

The truth is, it is possible for anyone if they are willing to put in the work, because most players aren’t willing to work hard enough at their craft.    They would rather spend their time shooting  worthless trick shots or lofting shots from half court.  There is a time for fun, and basketball trick shots, but it is more important to master the basics first if you are a young player, and nothing is more basic in basketball than free throw shooting.

So to make a long story short.  I ended the year with the best free throw percentage on our team, at around 78%.    We had 11 six graders on the team, and I was one of 4  B team players that dressed out for the A team games. I was the starting point guard on the B team.   We finished the county tournament that year in third place behind power houses Garth and Eastern Elementary.

So my sixth grade season I went into the season with 3 goals.

* Lead the team in free throw shooting,

* Lead the team in assists

* Our team to win the county tournament.

The huge favorite to win the tournament was Eastern elementary.  They had three 5th graders that had started on their A team the previous year and they were all returning.   So during the regular season, I led the team in assist and free throw percentage.   However, we played Eastern three times, once in an exhibition before the season started and twice during the season.  They drilled us all three times winning by and average margin of 14 points, the games weren’t even close.

So in the tournament tournament at the end of the year, it icame down to us needing to beat Gath to get to the championship game to play Eastern.  Garth had beat us twice during the regular season.  They had a guard named Tommy White who was one of the fastest players our county had ever seen.   In the semi-final game, we played a box and one defense and double teamed Tommy every time he touched the ball.  We ended up winning that game by 3 points.

In the championship game with Eastern our team wanted the win, and we wanted it bad.  We had been playing these guys since the 4th grade and had never won a game against them.

Old timers told me that the final game was the most exciting back and forth game ever played in our county’s elementary tournament history.  We won the championship in double overtime on a last second shot.

I hit 15 out of 16 free throws, and lead our team in scoring, for the first time ever in my basketball life.

The next year all the sixth graders went to Jr. High so you had all the players from all 7 elementary schools trying to make a 15 person roster.  I made the team, was the starting point guard and captain.

Would that ever have happened if I hadn’t made the decision in the 5th grade when it really didn’t matter that much, to challenge myself and become the best free throw shooter on our team?  Who knows?  But here is the formula, and I have taught it to several young basketball players over the years.  Those who take the formula seriously, practice on the court and in their mind become the best free throw shooters on their team, those that don’t …………..don’t.

4 RULES OF SUCCESSFUL FREE THROW SHOOTING

  • RULE ONE .. SWISH IT The GOAL is not to make it ……The goal is too swish the free throw and never hit the rimPlease don’t take rule number one for granted.  For your free throw to be successful you must swish it and not hit the rim.  At the end of every successful free throw say to yourself in your mind or out loud …………… SWISH.
  • RULE TWO.. ABNORMAL FOCUS From the moment you step on the Free throw line FOCUS, and imagine the ball swishing through the basket.  It is not about looking cool, it is about swishing the shot, nothing else, and block out everything else  (This type of focus is a learned skill)
  • RULE THREE .. SAME ROUTINE – EVERY TIME The same routine every time, every free throw. If you watch the great free throw shooters in college, or the NBA. they  go through the same routine with FOCUS every time. Most experienced baksetball players have heard these 3 tips their entire basketball career, but how many are following them, EVERYTIME, they step to the line?   “Knowledge without action leads to self-delusion”    However very few have heard Tipe #4 and I would say it is probably the most important.
  • RULE FOUR .. HIT 25 STRAIGHT FREE THROWS IN YOUR MIND …. EVERY NIGHT! Hit 25 straight free throws in YOUR MIND every night before you go to sleep. I cannot stress how important this step is.  I did it every night from the 5th grade forward that I played organized basketball.     THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP.

Today, I work as a motivational speakers, and have a course called Programming Your Mind for Success.   The vizulization technique that I unknowingly, just instinctively practiced in the 5th grade is part of what I teach in the course today to adults.

Dr. Maxwell Maltz talks about a study of free throw shooters who drastically increases their free throw percentage by not practicing on the court, but just in their minds, in one of the best self help books every written, PSYCHO-CYBERNETICS.

Anyone who makes a commitment to themselves and follows these four steps will become the Best Free Throw Shooter on their team.  I have watched it happened over and over, so the real question is how bad do you want it?  Are you wiling to follow the 4 steps?  Most people will not take this 4 system secret basketball formula serious enough.  Will you?  Those that do, WILL REAP THE REWARDS!

The ball is in your hands now, go swish some!

END OF ORIGINAL ARTICLE:

9/27/24 upate. If the truth be known, I originally wrote the article above for my grandaughter, Chapel, but I didn’t tell her that at the time.

This past weekend, I experienced an event, I will never forget. My grandaughter, Chapel Brown, pictured above and below signed here national letter of intent to play base basketball with a full ride scholorship at Judson College. Words cannot describe how proud I am of this young lady, watch the video below and you will understand why. She is special, and from the time she was 5 years old, I have tried to encourage her everytime she step on the free throw line, she heard Grampy saying “Swish it Chapel”.

As the bell rang, students began to stand up and leave, instead of waiting for the teacher to finish. The teacher, a bit sore, instructed all of us to stay back. She then proceeded to tell us a story that has stuck with me to this day.

In an experiment, dogs were kept in a closed playground-like environment for a few days. They were allowed to roam and play, and at irregular intervals, a bell would ring. After a few minutes, the dogs were given treats. The dogs would start wiggling their tails when treats were given. The teacher continued the story, saying that after a few days, the dogs began to associate the ringing of the bell with the treats. They would start wiggling their tails in anticipation of the treats, even before they were given.

The teacher then related this story to the students in the class, saying that we should not be like the dogs in the experiment, and should wait for the teacher instead of the bell. She said that humans are different from other animals and should behave accordingly. At the time, I didn’t agree with the teacher. I thought that humans weren’t all that different from other animals. I have since changed my mind.

When someone says something that upsets us, we get angry. When something doesn’t go our way, we feel depressed. When we hear something in the news, we often make a quick judgment about whether we believe it or not, based on our own biases. However, if we take a step back and think about the situation, we can often respond more positively and constructively.

While it is true that we share many instinctual behaviors with other animals, what sets us apart is our capacity for reason and reflection. Many animals feel emotions, but humans have a somewhat unique ability to control their emotions. We can control our reactions and act in deliberate, considered ways. This allows us to create complex societies and live in harmony with one another. This ability gives us control over our lives and destiny that other animals do not have. This ability makes humans unique and sets us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom.

We can walk on four legs, but we can also stand on two. We can run on two legs, but we can also fly with none. We are not limited by our legs, but by our minds.

I am not advocating for intelligence, which is often associated with unhappiness. I am not asking you to be more rational (or irrational). It is okay to feel happy, excited, anxious, sad, stressed, or depressed. However, if you don’t want to feel any of those emotions, you don’t have to. Feel your emotions fully, but don’t numb yourself to the pain or the joy (or the hate or the love). Be more human. Wiggle your tail only if you want to.
